Samir Williams returned a fourth-quarter interception 59 yards for a touchdown and Williamsport turned away three second-half threats by host Wilkes-Barre Area Friday night as the Millionaires shut out the Wolfpack, 14-0, for the District 2-4 Class 6A Subregional title.

Williams scored both touchdowns for Williamsport, the former Wyoming Valley Conference football-only member which is the only District 4 team in the field.

The Millionaires move into state tournament play with a 7-5 record. Wilkes-Barre finishes 6-6, including 4-2 at home where its only two losses came to Williamsport.

Williams ran 27 yards for a first-quarter touchdown and the 7-0 lead that Williamsport held until his pick six in the fourth quarter.

The Wilkes-Barre Area defense held Williamsport throughout the second half, setting up repeated opportunities for the offense.

Williamsport’s Kyreek Bradshaw had a third-quarter interception at the 3 and the Millionaires held on downs at its 16 and 8 in the second half.

Up next for Williamsport is a game with District 6 champion State College a 35-7 winner over Eric McDowell. State College is 10-1.
