Wallenpaupack used two late scores to top Pittston Area 22-10 to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Patriots got on the board first with a Gavin Wolfe 30-yard field goal and a 3-0 lead.
The Buckhorns got on the board on the first play of the second quarter when Michael Passenti caught a 35-yard pass from Drew Kiesendahl for a 7-3 lead and that’s what the score was at halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Kiesendahl scored on a 5-yard run and a successful two-point pass to Logan Caruso made it 15-3. The Buckhorns would score again when Passenti hauled in a 35-yard pass from backup quarterback Jake Rafferty for a 22-3.
Pittston Area would get a late touchdown when Santino Capitano found Lucas Lopresto for a 19-yard touchdown pass, but it wasn’t enough.
Wallenpaupack (4-5) currently holds the No. 3 spot in Class 4A and will host Valley View next Friday. Despite the loss, Pittston Area (2-7) clinched a Class 5A playoff berth and will host Wyoming Area next week.
