The Wayne-Pike Shrine Bowl ended up being a defensive affair with with two Buckhorns’ rushing touchdown ended up the difference makers in Wallenpaupack’s 14-6 win over Honesdale.
The Buckhorns have now won six straight in the series and have won two in-a-row after a Week 1 loss.
After a scoreless first half, the Hornets got on the board first when Aiden Collins found Kobe White for 26-yard touchdown pass to make it 6-0
Wallenpaupack would answer with a Drew Kiesendahl 4-yard touchdown run. C.J. Doty’s extra point gave the Buckhorns their first lead 7-6
Paupack would score in the fourth quarter on their next possession when Logan Caruso ran for an 8-yard touchdown run. The Buckhorns defense would do the rest forcing two Hornets’ turnovers that ended up giving them their first loss of the season.
Caruso led the offense with over 100 yards rushing.
Wallenpaupack (2-1) will face North Pocono next Friday at home while Honesdale (2-1) will host unbeaten Mid Valley.
