VALLEY VIEW 34, WALLENPAUPACK 13
Zach Cwalinski and Preston Reed scored two touchdowns each and the Valley View defense recorded three interceptions in a 34-13 win over Wallenpaupack. The Cougars have win nine straight games since an opening week loss.
Valley View’s defense made an impact on the first play from scrimmage when Jeffrey Wasilchak intercepted Drew Kiesendahl in Wallenpaupack territory. Four plays later Cwalinski scored from 1 yard out to make it 7-0.
In the second quarter, defensive tackle Jack Kondrat intercepted Kiesendahl on a tipped ball and the Cougars drove the field with Reed scoring from 28 yards out for a 14-0 lead.
Wallenpaupack drove the field before halftime and Kiesendahl scored on a 4th down run with a 6-yard touchdown to make it 14-6 as time expired.
But Valley View came out in the second half and scored on their first drive with Cwalinski scoring on an 8-yard touchdown run.
The Buckhorns answered when Kiesendahl hit Michael Passenti for a 93-yard touchdown pass to make it 20-13.
Valley View took control in the 4th quarter a 11-yard touchdown run by Reed and a 40-yard touchdown run by Nick Kucharski.
Ben Evans intercepted Kiesendahl to seal the win for Cougars.
Kucharski finished with 11 carries for 128 yards while Reed carried the ball 13 times for 103 yards.
