RIVERSIDE 17. DUNMORE 14 (OT)

Three plays. That was enough for Riverside to defeat Dunmore on opening night.

Santino D’Amico’s 21-yard field goal in overtime was the game-winner as the Vikings edged the Bucks 17-14

D’Amico missed a 37-yard field goal at the end of regulation, but redeemed himself after Dunmore fumbled on their possession in the extra stanza.

The Bucks outgained the Vikings 310-96 including a 14-play, 77 yard drive on their first possession of the season that was capped off by Jackson Harding’s 3-yard touchdown run.

On the ensuing kickoff, Brayden Rose answered the Bucks touchdown with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to tie the game 7-7. That would be the score at the end of the 1st quarter.

Dunmore would regain the lead on a short drive set up by Ryan Mecca’s 46-yard punt return. Weston Yannone would score a on a 32-yard scamper three plays later to make it 14-7.

However, Riverside would answer on the next drive after another long kickoff return with a 3-play, 54-yard drive finished off by a Rose 46-yard shuffle pass to Jared Jackson and a 14-14 tie.

The second half would be scoreless as Dunmore continued to move the ball, but penalties and negative plays would stop good drives on several occasions. Riverside’s offense never got going.

Dunmore will take to the road next week to play Old Forge. Riverside have their home opener next Friday vs. Hanover Area.
