NORTH POCONO 23 WYOMING VALLEY WEST 7
North Pocono got three touchdowns from three different players en route to a 23-7 win over Wyoming Valley West Friday night in Kingston.
The Trojans led by just three points at halftime, until senior Brady Lavery capped a 7-play, 43-yard drive with a 7-yard dash to the end zone, on North Pocono’s second possession of he third quarter, giving the Trojans a two-score lead at 17-7.
Early in the fourth, freshman tailback Joe Briskie scored from three yards out, to give the Trojans their final margin of victory.
North Pocono led early, when Chase Zimmerman picked off a pass from WVW freshman QB Damian Eastman on the second play of the game, and then cashed it in five plays later, throwing a 17-yard TD pass to Cole West.
Sam Magnotta added a 23-yard field goal in the second quarter, giving the Trojans a 10-0 lead.
Wyoming Valley West got an opportunity, with Preston Sninsky’s second interception of the season later in the second, but were unable to capitalize. Then, less than a minute before the half, after forcing the Trojans to punt from their own end zone, Eastman hit senior wideout Tyler Mattis with a 30-yard scoring strike, accounting for the 10-7 halftime score.
