TAYLOR – Chase Taddonio split his half-dozen touchdown passes in half – three to Jared Jackson and three to Brayden Rose.

Taddonio threw for 302 yards Thursday night to lead unbeaten Riverside to a 55-0, home-field rout of winless Montrose in a non-league game to kick off Week Five of the season.

The Vikings quarterback threw three of his four first-half touchdown passes to Jackson for a 27-0 halftime lead.

Riverside made the lead 41-0 just 4:04 into the second half when Taddonio opened the third quarter by hitting Rose with four straight passes of at least 26 yards, including 28- and 34-yard touchdowns.

The Montrose pass rush often had Taddonio on the run. It did not matter as he hit two of his touchdown passes while scrambling and another by standing in and taking a big hit.

Taddonio finished 14-for-21 passing after hitting his last five attempts for 150 yards and three touchdowns.

Rose caught five for 152 yards. Jackson’s only three catches were the touchdowns, which totaled 55 yards.

The Meteors made the Vikings work for their first-half points. Riverside converted two third downs and a fourth down on the way to a 20-0 lead, then got a 37-yard, Jackson touchdown reception with nine seconds left to create the 27-point lead at halftime.

Montrose held the ball for more than 7½ minutes on its first possession, but after having a touchdown called back turn the ball over and downs.

Riverside scored on all eight possessions with two touchdowns in each quarter.

Taddonio hit Jackson for an 11-yard score and Rose from 39 yards out for a 13-0 lead after one quarter.

Jackson made it 27-0 at halftime with his next two scores.

Taddonio and Rose teamed to make it 41-0 after three.

Cooper Borowski scored from 6 yards out and Joe Gaughan on a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Santino D’Amico made his last seven extra-point kick attempts.

Riverside is 5-0 while Montrose is 0-4.
