MID VALLEY 42, OLD FORGE 18
It took them a couple series to get going, but the Spartan Army marches on.
Mid Valley fought off two early fumbles and Jakob Lesher ran for 246 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries as the Spartans bludgeoned Old Forge, 42-18, at Old Forge Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Blue Devils took advantage of two Mid Valley miscues on the Spartans first two possessions of the game to take a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.
DiMattia found Frankie Pero for a 17-yard touchdown and Isiah Rodriguez booted a 21-yard field goal to give Old Forge (2-1) the early lead.
But Mid Valley (3-0) scored 42 unanswered led by back-to-back first-quarter scoring runs of 81 and 76 yards by Lesher.
Nick Jackson then returned a fumble three yards for a score to open the second quarter and Lesher went 26 yards on series later to put the Spartans in command.
Kaleb Perry and Mason Vinansky added second half scores for the Spartans. Quarterback Brett Yanoski was an efficient 6-for-8 passing for 110 yards.
The Blue Devils final score came on a Robby Solfanelli six-yard touchdown pass to Rodriguez with less than two minutes remaining.
