WEST PITTSTON – Wyoming Area scored on all eight possessions until going into Victory Formation in Lakeland territory for the last two minutes of a 56-6 rout in Friday night’s non-league game at Anthony “Jake” Sobeski Stadium.
Lidge Kellum led an offense that produced 23 first downs, 459 rushing yards and 503 yards of total offense.
Kellum carried 13 times for 208 yards, all in the first half. He ran 40 yards for the game’s first score and went 68 yards for another touchdown on the first play of the second quarter.
Anthony DeLucca passed for two touchdowns and ran for one to help Wyoming Area to a 42-0 halftime lead.
The Warriors used four quarterbacks and 10 ballcarriers. The second and third quarterbacks, Nick Ciampi and Brady Jones, each ran for scores while combining for 71 yards on nine carries.
Jack Gravine and Luke Kopetchny had the touchdown catches for Wyoming Area. Oliver Bolin ran for a score.
The Warriors got fumble recoveries from Bolin and Jones on the kickoff coverage team to help create a 28-0 lead with 9:49 still remaining in the second quarter.
Josh Mruk returned from injury to play for the first time this season. The all-state end had two of the team’s five sacks in the first half.
Wyoming Area gained 155 of its yards while going 8-for-8 on third-down conversions.
“From an execution standpoint, we were keeping the chains moving with some big conversions and contributions from everybody,” Wyoming Area coach Randy Spencer said. “That’s really what we were looking for and we’re really excited to see that.”
Lakeland broke the shutout on a Jackson Pochas 43-yard touchdown run with 5:05 left.
Wyoming Area (3-1) will be on the road next Friday at Tunkhannock while Lakeland (2-2) will travel to Susquehanna on Saturday.
