WYOMING AREA 35, LAKE-LEHMAN 14
Lidge Kellum ran for 207 yards and Anthony DeLucca accounted for three touchdowns Friday night as Wyoming Area clinched no worse than a tie for another Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 title with a 35-14 victory over visiting Lake-Lehman.
The teams entered the game tied for first in the division, which Wyoming Area won a year ago.
Lake-Lehman managed to build a 33:05-14:55 advantage in time of possession and ran twice as many offensive plays, but the Black Knights were unable to contain the Kellum-led offense.
Kellum went around left end for a 56-yard touchdown on Wyoming Area’s second play to begin the scoring midway through the first quarter.
DeLucca threw for two touchdowns and ran for another.
Luke Kopetchny, who also intercepted a pass, pulled in a 24-yarder from DeLucca for a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Lake-Lehman closed to within seven points on a 17-yard Jaydon Skipalis run late in the second quarter, but Wyoming Area restored its two-touchdown lead in the last minute of the half.
Trustin Johnson ran 5 yards to make it 21-7.
DeLucca’s 1-yard run accounted for the only scoring in the third quarter.
Skipalis scored again on an 18-yard pass from Hayden Evans with 6:32 remaining.
The Warriors, however, came back with a score just 1:25 later.
DeLucca’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Wiedl completed the scoring.
Wiedl also led the Wyoming Area defense. He had five tackles, including a sack and another for a loss, and assisted on seven others.
Wyoming Area held Lake-Lehman’s ground game in check, but Evans completed 17of 32 passes for 237 yards.
The Warriors (7-1 overall, 4-0 in the division) can take the Division 2 title outright Friday night when they host Nanticoke.
Lake-Lehman (5-3, 3-1) is at Hanover Area in another Friday night game.
