RIVERSIDE 42 LAKE LEHMAN 12

In Taylor, Riverside remained unbeaten with a resounding 42-12 victory over the visiting Lake-Lehman Knights.

The Vikings got on the board in the opening period after forcing a Lake-Lehman interception. Senior quarterback, Chase Taddonio, found sophomore Brayden Rose to put Riverside ahead 7-0. Lehman was able to control the football on the ground late in the first quarter and through the early stages of the second quarter. Fullback Jaydon Skipalis broke the ice for the Black Knights, carrying the ball over from the 1-yard line. The extra point was missed and, with 7:59 left before the half, Lehman trailed 7-6.

The Vikings would then reel off 28 straight points and completely control the contest. Carmello Barnett, who has emerged as a significant playmaker in Coach Harry Armstrong’s offense, capped a long Viking drive by scampering 6 yards to put Riverside in front 14-6 with just 2:37 left in the opening half.

After regaining control of the ball, the Vikings beat the clock to score again with just 2 seconds left before halftime. Taddonio bulled 3 yards for the score. D’Amico’s third consecutive extra point sent the teams to the locker room at 21-6.

The Vikings began the second half with an electrifying 78-yard kickoff return by Richie Kostoff, making the score 28-6. Kostoff added his second score of the night on a 1-yard plunge with 11:40 left in the ball game to make it 35-6.

Lehman scored their final touchdown on a 4-yard run by Jimmy Mitkowski. A failed two-point conversion attempt left the Knights behind Riverside, 35-12.

The Vikings concluded the scoring on a 20-yard dash by junior back, Ny-Jai Scott-Holt. D’Amico remained perfect on the evening and the final score was 42-12 Riverside.

Both Lehman and Riverside will play against independents next week. Lake-Lehman (2-2, 1-0) will host Holy Redeemer on Friday while Riverside (4-0) will be home once again, this time against winless Montrose on Thursday night.
