LACKAWANNA TRAIL 49, OLD FORGE 13
The Ryon Express visited Old Forge last night and it was full steam ahead. Lackawanna Trail running back Issac Ryon rushed for 231 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Lions to a 49-13 at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
After the Blue Devils (3-3) held Trail on its first possession the Lions only needed five plays for Ryon to sprint 38 yards for a 7-0 lead.
Old Forge responded immediately as senior Cael Krushnowski solidified his status as the top return man in District 2 with an 89-yard touchdown return – his fourth of the season – to tie the game at 7.
Ryon scored his second touchdown less than 90 seconds later as Trail (5-1) took the lead for good, 14-7. An Old Forge fumble on the ensuing kickoff led to a Demitrius Douglas 5-yard scoring run and the Lions led, 21-7.
Ryon added touchdown runs of 65 and 57 in the second and third quarters. Douglas scored again on the ground and in the air – an outstanding one-handed catch in stride that he took 81 yards for the score.
Old Forge added a second score in the fourth quarter when freshman Rylan Gutowski ran in from 8 yards out.
