HONESDALE 43, POCONO MOUNTAIN EAST 20
Honesdale had a strong running game behind a powerful offensive line to defeat Pocono Mountain East 43-20. The Hornets start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2005.
Mason Avery scored the first of three touchdowns with a four yard run. The senior ended up with 207 yards rushing. Avery ran for 33-yard touchdown in the late first quarter for a 14-0 lead.
The passing game got involved in the second quarter when QB Aiden Collins connected with Bradley Bibalo for 7-yard touchdown pass. The Cardinals would score next on an 87 yard pass to make 20-6 lead. But Honesdale got the last score before half with a Rylan Montgomery 33-yard field goal.
The Hornets would be buzzing in the third quarter with an Avery 89-yard touchdown run, Collins 46-yard interception return for a touchdown and a Kobe White 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Honesdale will host Wallenpaupack next Friday night.
