VALLEY VIEW 35, DELAWARE VALLEY 25

Zach Cwalinski ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns while throwing another as Valley View won their 7th straight game and defeated Delaware Valley 35-25. The loss for the Warriors broke a three-game winning streak.

Delaware Valley started off strong with a 49-yard run by Mike Iuzzolino that got the Warriors in the red zone. DV had a 4th and 3 and the Cougars jumped offsides to give the Warriors a first and goal. Iuzzilino scored from 3-yard out for a 7-0 lead.

Valley View answered and it was uncharacteristically through the air. Cwalinski completed 4 of 5 passes on the drive capped off by a 24-yd touchdown pass to Beyon McLean to tie the game 7-7.

The Warriors would put together another long drive relying on Iuzzolino, but the Cougars got a stop on 3rd down and Delaware Valley’s Regan Decker would finish the drive with a 38-yard field goal to make 10-7.

But Valley View would put together a 16-play drive that covered 80 yards and was finished off with Cwalinski’s 2-yard touchdown run and a 14-10 lead.

A bad snap to quarterback Logan Olsommer, which happened numerous times throughout the evening, doomed the next drive and the Warriors were forced to punt with 4:14 left in the half.

The Cougars would go back to the run game on the next drive with Cwalinski and running back Nick Kucharski doing the work. Kucharski would score on a 4-yard run with :16 seconds remaining for a 21-10 lead.

After a long kickoff return, the Warriors got into a position for a Hail Mary, but the ball was knocked down by cornerback Richie Leslie to end the half.

Valley View would take the second half kickoff and on the fourth play of the drive, Cwalinski would run for a 67-yard touchdown, tiptoeing the sidelines avoiding several Warriors defenders.

Delaware Valley would run the ball well on the next drive and drive deep into Valley View territory, but a 4th and goal stop at three would keep the score 28-10.

A three and out by the Cougars would force Valley View to punt and set up DV with great field position at the Cougars 30 yardline.

Three plays later Olsommer would score on an 8-yard scramble to cut the lead to 28-17.

Valley View would move the ball into Delaware Valley territory, but a costly unsportsmanlike penalty put the Cougars behind the chains and they were forced to punt in the early 4th quarter.

Iuzzonlino blocked Tim Ulkoski’s punt and returned it to the Valley View 28 yardline.

The Warriors took seven plays and convereted a 4th down with Justin Estevez scoring on a 5-yard run. Iuzzolino ran for the two-point conversion and now it was a one score game 28-25 with 9:55 left in the game.

Valley View would face a 3rd and 17 on their next drive, but Kucharski gained 15 on a screen pass and then he would for a first down on 4th and 2. The next play Preston Reed took it 36 yards to the house for a 35-25 lead.

Delaware Valley would drive into Valley View territory the next two drives but were stopped on 4th down and then Kucharski intercepted Olsommer off a Gianni Marino pass deflection to seal the win for the Cougars,

Valley View (7-1 overall, 4-1) will host Wyoming Valley West next Friday while Delaware Valley (3-5, 2-2) hosts North Pocono.
