CENTRAL YORK 31, DELAWARE VALLEY 20
Central York jumped out to a big lead en route to a 31-20 win over Delaware Valley. For the fourth straight year, the Warriors start the season 0-3.
The Panthers started the game with long drive, but the Warriors defense held at the goal line and forced a Central York field goal to make it 3-0
Delaware Valley’s offense then had its best drive of the season that took 13 plays and 80 yards with Mike Iuzzolino capping it off with a 25-yard touchdown run. The drive took over 7:00 minutes off the clock for a 7-3 DV lead.
Central York would add a touchdown before the end of the first quarter for a 10-7 lead.
However the second quarter belonged to the Panthers who scored two more touchdowns for a 24-7 halftime lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Warriors would rally for two more Iuzzolino touchdowns to cut the deficit to one score. But Central York added an insurance touchdown to seat the victory.
The Panthers’ quarterback Brooklyn Nace had a hand in all four touchdowns for Central York – either running or throwing the football.
Iuzzolino led the Warriors with three touchdowns, his first of the season.
Delaware Valley (0-3) will host Scranton Prep next Saturday in their first league game of the 2024 season.
