WILKES-BARRE 21, CRESTWOOD 14

Jake Howe connected with Achilles Fuentes for two touchdown passes, including the game-winner, Friday night as Wilkes-Barre rallied past Crestwood, 21-14, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 game.

Fuentes, who did not have a catch prior to Friday, pulled in a 13-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the third quarter to break a tie and the Wolfpack protected the lead through a scoreless fourth quarter.

Crestwood took leads in the first and second quarters, but Wilkes-Barre tied the game both times.

Matthew Bealla and Nate Walsh had touchdown runs of 2 and 13 yards for the Comets.

Howe found Fuentes for 22 yards for the first-quarter score and Davon Underwood ran 4 yards to force the 14-14 halftime tie.

Wilkes-Barre toughened up against the Crestwood ground game to hold the Comets scoreless over the final 33½ minutes.

The Wolfpack finished 3-2 in Division 1. Wilkes-Barre  (5-4) plays at Williamsport (4-5) Friday night in a non-league game between teams that could meet again in the District 2-4 Class 6A Subregional playoffs.

Crestwood (4-5 overall, 2-2) will be home against Wyoming Valley West.
