2026 PREVIEW
It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Dallas after heavy graduation losses and a young roster, but the Mountaineers exceeded expectations by advancing to the District 2 championship game. Now, with valuable experience under their belts, the Mounts are poised to take the next step in 2026.
Talan Geskey won the starting quarterback job last season and enjoyed a breakout campaign. The junior threw for more than 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 614 yards and five more scores. Brady McCann, Jesse Berlew, and Cole Hampel provide depth at quarterback.
Hunter Pitcavage was the starting tailback until a season-ending injury in Week 4, but he returns healthy and ready to lead the ground game. Marc Saracinaj and Owen Oldt will provide depth at the position. Jimmy Youngblood is the leading candidate to start at either fullback or tight end, with McCann, Oldt, Jayden Razawich, Billy Moran, and Hayden Romeo all expected to see time at both positions.
Tyce Mason returns at wide receiver after catching 17 passes last season and will be joined by newcomers Trevor Slavinski, Bobby Gallagher, Michael Viglone, Carver Jones, and Luke Kostick.
The offensive line returns key experience with Grant Gauntlett back at left tackle, while Drew Klinetob and Cole Langdon return on the right side. Wyatt Teetsel is projected to start at left guard, and Brady Ecenrode is expected to take over at center. Blake Ziomkowski, Matt Sevenski, Tyler Spaciano, Logan Faulkner, and Eric Kuzma provide depth up front.
Defensively, Langdon returns at defensive end and could be joined by Klinetob, Ecenrode, Ben Thomas, or Liam Allen. Sevenski, Spaciano, Teetsel, Faulkner, Kuzma, and Ziomkowski are all expected to compete for playing time at nose tackle.
The strength of the defense will be the back seven. Pitcavage and Gauntlett return at outside linebacker, with Razawich and Saracinaj providing depth. Youngblood and Oldt are back at inside linebacker, while Moran, Romeo, and Berlew add depth.
All four starters return in the secondary, with Mason and Slavinski at cornerback and McCann and Gallagher at safety. Khary Douglas, Jones, and Kostick provide depth at cornerback, while Brady Sherman, Viglone, and Geskey are the backup safeties.
On special teams, Brandon Miller returns after earning All-Star honors as both the kicker and punter. David Worth and Christian Maier will also provide depth in the kicking game.
QUOTE FROM COACH MANNELLO: “As always in Dallas, everything starts with goal of changing games through special teams play. Our immediate challenge is finding who will step up in special teams depth to allow us to relieve some starters on certain units. Defensively, we have to prove our depth up front on paper translates to playable depth on Friday nights. We must also find depth behind a talented group of starting linebackers and secondary. Offensively, we must idenitfy who will be our sixth, seventh, and eighth offensive linemen. Our skill players are doing a great job to date handling a sometimes uncomfortable task of cross training. Our team across the board has done an awesome job of committing to ‘reps without egos’ which if continued, will prove its benefit during the season.”
