2025 PREVIEW
After three straight losing seasons, Lake-Lehman turned it around last year with a winning record, a second place finish in the division and a district playoff berth. The Black Knights have a chance to repeat all three feats and maybe even improve on last year’s success with an experienced front on both sides of the ball being their strength. It will take some younger players to mature quickly to get off to a good start.
Anthony Magnotta will be the new quarterback with Jesse Strenfel the backup. The backfield is experienced with Chris Yetter and Jaydon Skipalis sharing the carries this season. There will be a new fullback in either Rennen Smith, Lukas Conte, or Devon Albee. Jake Evans and Alex Smith are returning wide receivers with Landin Bardo and Carter Deyo expected to provide depth. The new tight end will be either Valentino Cassano or Vincenzo Sparacio.
The entire offensive line returns with Trent Gaus at left tackle, Jake Paull at left guard, Jeremy Janosov at center, Robert Gregor at right guard, and Zach Koval at right tackle. Joel Bacon, Logan Rybka, Devon Wright and Stanley Simms will provide depth.
The defensive tackles are experienced with Koval, Gregor and Gaus all returning. Rybka, Conte, Cassano, Wright, and Albee will compete for the two defensive end spots. Janasov and Bacon are expected to provide depth up front. Rennen Smith is returning starter at lineback and will be joined by Skipalis. Damon Bond and Marco Lenza could also be in the rotation. Alex Smith and Bardo are returning starters at cornerback with Evans, Yetter and Magnotta all experienced at safety.
Logan Law will handle the kicking duties. Hunter Palka will also be involved with special teams.
QUOTE FROM COACH GILSKY: I look forward to this group this year. We are more solid up front with multiple backs to support our run game with Jayden Skipalis and Chris Yetter. Defensively we are quicker to the ball with a solid interior line to anchor the front. We need to use our size this year to control the game.
