2025 PREVIEW
Crestwood had some bright spots in 2024, but injuries derailed their season. Now, the Comets hope to have enough firepower to compete for both the WVC Division 1 and Class 4A titles. Success in the trenches could be the deciding factor.
Quarterback Jaden Shedlock missed eight games last season due to injury, which disrupted Crestwood’s game plan. He returns fully healthy and ready to lead the offense. The Comets will continue to run their version of the single-wing, with Jacob Jeckell and Nate Walsh—both key contributors to last year’s running game—having combined for over 1,000 rushing yards. Emmett Seyer returns at fullback, while Jack Rodgers and Gio Barna come back as starting wide receivers. The tight end position will feature a new starter, with Logan Lawson and Carson Oresick competing for the role.
The offensive line returns just one starter. Brady Cook is back at center, with Matt Bealla taking over at right guard. Andrew Ranieli and Randy Castillo will compete at left tackle, while Jake Mitchell and Matt Rodgers vie for left guard. Ryan Barna and Zayan Ansari will battle for the right tackle spot.
On defense, Cook, Ben DeRosa, and Chip Lozano return on the defensive line. Seyer anchors the outside linebacker position and will be joined by either Lawson, Oresick, or Zach Zeneski. Bealla returns at inside linebacker, with Tyler Herbert, Cayden Bellas, Charles Higgs, and Hayden Cunningham competing for the other spot. The secondary returns intact, with Rodgers and Barna at cornerback, and Amias Ocasio, Carmen Chiverella, Kyle Shade, and Braylon Murray providing depth. Shedlock and Jeckell will man the safety positions, with Walsh, Dylan Gensil, and Teddy Taylor as backups.
Cooper Laubach returns to handle the kicking duties, while Gio Barna will handle kick returns.
QUOTE FROM COACH ARCANGELI: Great group of hard working young men who put the team before themselves. Small senior group with great character, who treat each player with great respect but hold each one accountable and to a high standard. Our staff has great respect for this senior group, and we count on them to mold our young talented players into a TEAM. Go Comets!
