2024 PREVIEW
The Chiefs went from penthouse to the basement in a one-year span but are optimistic they can get back on top sooner rather than later. The offense played a lot of young players last season and that should pay off in 2024. The defense has a good core back but will need some players to step into roles and grow quickly.
David Naniewicz is back at quarterback although he will need to stay healthy as he struggled with injuries last season that limited the offensive growth. Rocco Spataro steps in as the backup. Caden Cuozzo is back at running back after a strong second half of 2023. Chase Rosenkrans, Jayden Poklemba, and Chris Chmiola are all back at wide receiver with Luke Mcfarland, Jackson Pochas, and Gavin Roberts providing depth. Kody Miller returns at tight end with Dylan Loomis his primary backup.
Four offensive linemen are back from last season including left tackle Cole Hastings, left guard Noah Shaffer, center Ethan Kilmer, and right tackle Weston Loomis. Nick Chmiola, Charlie Makala, and Austin Tuttle will compete of the right guard position and provide depth across the board.
Naniewicz and Miller return as the starting defensive ends with Shaffer as a backup. Weston Loomis is a returning starter in the interior and will be Kilmer will also be inserted there. Hastings will back up both end and tackle. Caden Cuozzo is the lone returning outside backer and will be joined by Spataro or Noah Cuozzo. Chris Chmiola returns at inside linebacker with Nick Chmiola, Charlie Makala, Dylan Loomis and Mcfarland all competing for playing time. Poklemba returns as one starting cornerback with Roberts, Pochas, and Calvin Gumbs in contention to play the other side. Rosenkrans is back as the starting safety.
Ryan Bianchi brings experience to the kicking game as the placekicker and punter.
QUOTE FROM COACH PIWOWARCZYK: We are still young with a small senior class. The younger classmen will be asked to step up early and help fill the gaps to make a competitive team.
