Here are the 2024 NPF WVC Division 1 All-Stars presented by the U.S. Air Force. The list is compiled by feedback from the division coaches and NPF Staff. The MVP exemplifies a player who makes the biggest contribitions, usually on both sides of the ball or an overwhelming performance on one side of the ball.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
Dylan Geskey, Sr. – Dallas
Although his offensive numbers weren’t as good this season as 2023, he still was the leading rusher in WVC Division I. He ran for 842 yards and 16 touchdowns and finished with over 2,700 yards for his career. Where he made more of an impact for the Mountaineers was on defense. After playing sparingly last season on that side of the ball, he started at linebacker and finished the season with 84 tackles including eight tackles for loss. Geskey’s performance in all three phases of the game was a big reason Dallas repeated as division champs.
OFFENSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Brady Zapoticky, Sr. – Dallas
Zapoticky did it all on offense. He finished his prolific passing career with 1,949 yards passing and 21 touchdown passes in 2024. Where he really elevated his game was running the football. Zapoticky finished the season with 803 yards and eight touchdowns to become a true dual-threat quarterback. His previous rushing high was last season with 331 yards. As a three year starter, he matured into a leader for the Mountaineers and had total control of the offense that ended up being the best in the division for the second straight season.
DEFENSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Lincoln Bibla, Sr. – Crestwood
Nobody in WVC Division 1 had a bigger impact on the field than Bibla. Opposing coaches stayed away from him when game-planning because of his ability to get to the ball, even against double teams. Just his presence on the field made the Crestwood defense better. Bibla finished the season with 57 tackles including 14 tackles for loss. He also added five sacks and four quarterback hurries. Add an interception and two fumble recoveries to his resume. Bibla also was a powerful blocker for the Comets offense.
LINEMAN OF THE YEAR
Jimmy Gryskewicz, Sr. – Wilkes-Barre
After a very good junior season, Gryskiewicz became an even better two-way lineman in 2024. On offense, he was a powerful run blocker and had excellent technique in pass protection. He finished the season with 32 pancake blocks. On defense, he was a run-stuffer who commanded double-teams throughout the season. Gryskiewicz had 76 tackles including four tackles for loss and a sack. He was a leader on and off the field for the Wolfpack and helped the team win another Class 6A title.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Rich Mannello – Dallas
Although some analysts had Dallas as a favorite to repeat as division champions, the task wasn’t easy. The Mountaineers had to replace all five starting linemen from the 2023 state finalist team and that’s never easy for any team. Dallas also faced adversity right off the bat with three straight losses to start the season. But as a veteran head coach, Mannello never panicked and the the Mounts were able to run off eight straight wins and earn a spot in the district title game. Dallas has plenty of tradition, but they have really become the model program in the WVC over the last decade with consistency and a positive culture that produces winning.
