Every week, we will highlight some of the best linemen from the WVC and LFC presented by Honesdale National Bank. Here is Week 1:
BRIAN GOW, Lackawanna Trail
The Lackawanna Trail lines dominated both sides of the ball and was led by Gow. He paved the way for 223 rushing yards in the win against Berwick. Gow also made key plays from his nose tackle position to help the Lions shut out the Bulldogs.
RYKIN HOBART, Susquehanna
Hobart is one of the better blocking tight ends in the LFC and helped the Sabers rush for 276 yards in their upset of Dunmore. He also was a major factor on defense with five tackles including one TFL and a couple pressures on the quarterback.
ALEKS JASKIEWICZ, Crestwood
The Comets came into 2024 with high expectations and the offensive line was thought to be a strength. Despite two tough losses, Jaskiewicz has been steady up front and help Crestwood earn their first win with 366 rushing yards. He also was a factor on defense clogging up the middle whiel also getting a pressure on the quarterback.
CONAN KIER, Wallenpaupack
The Shrine Bowl was definitely won in the trenches with Paupack getting the upper hand on the evening. Kier led the offensive unit as the Buckhorns ran for 200 yards. He has great technique and despite being slightly undersized, has a compact base that helps him with levarage up front.
BRANDON LEZINSKI, Abington Heights
Lezinski has been the most decorated lineman and he shined last week in the win against Dallas. He was strong up front, especially in pass protection and he also helped lead the way in the run game that saw the Comets have a 100-yard rusher. He also added three tackles on defense.
