2022 PREVIEW
Old Forge continues to chalk up wins for the program and last season their only loss came in a state quarterfinal game. The Blue Devils have enough back on both sides of the ball to repeat that run and are clearly the favorite in Class 1A and LFC Division III. The schedule is more difficult than recent years which is exactly what Old Forge wanted.
Senior quarterback James Sobol is back and is a big reason the Devils have had some much success in recent years. As a dual-threat, he can beat you in many different ways. Ryan Novak will serve as his backup. Sobol will have weapons back to help including running back Josh Spindler. Cael Krushnowski and Geno Scatena could also see time in the backfield. The new fullback is Angelo Fumanti with Frankie Pero also at the position. Casey Holzman returns as wide receiver although he can line up anywhere on the field including running back. Matt Lenceski, Andrew Bartnikowski, Nico Killino, Conner Oshinski, Nicholas Novak, and Ashton Fisher also are in consideration to get reps at receiver. Joey Granko returns as the starting tight end with Alex Michaylo, Caden Carey, and Isiah Rodriguez providing depth.
The offensive line lost some key players but still returns three starters including guards Santino Krappa and Cyllel Rose. Cooper Mordan is back at center. The Devils will have to replace their offensive tackles. In consideration for the left side is Mario Colarusso, Tavin Brooks, and Emari Starr. Andy Santarsiero or Keithley McCutchen will be the right tackle.
Rose and Krappa are returning starters up front on defense. Mordan, Michaylo, Brooks and Jordan Rafalko will be looked at for the other defensive end spot. Santarsiero, Starr, and McCutchen will be considered at defensive tackle. All three of the starting linebackers return including Granko and Fumanti inside. Ruby and Scatena will provide depth. Spindler returns on the outside with Lenceski, Krushnowski, and Pero as backups. Bartnikowski returns at cornerback and Holzman at safety. Oshinski, Killino, Ryan Novak, and Ashton Fisher will battle for playing time on the other side at corner. Nick Novak and Killino will also be in the mix at safety.
Anthony Mucciolo will be the new kicker for the Devils.
