Here are the rankings after Week  8 presented by Gaughan Auto Store:

BIG SCHOOL

  1. Valley View Cougars (8-0), defeated Honesdale 48-14 (Last week: 1)
After a tough schedule to start, the Cougars will end the season with challenges from division opponents. The offense continues to be one of the best as it scored touchdowns on its first six possessions with six different scorers in the first half last week.
Next up: vs. Western Wayne (4-4) (Watch on NPF)
  2. North Pocono Trojans (7-1), defeated Lake-Lehman 38-7 (Last week: 2)
North Pocono continues to dominate inferior teams which is what they are supposed to do. They should take care of business this week and then play a game which will probably be for the LFC Division I title.
    Next up: vs. Scranton (3-5)
  3. Delaware Valley Warriors (5-3), defeated Scranton 35-0 (Last week: 3)
That’s five straight wins for Delaware Valley and the defense has only given up 26 points over that span including back-to-back shutouts of Class 6A rivals. Two rivalry games coming up for the Warriors.
Next up: vs Wallenpaupack (3-5) (Listen on WYNY)
  4. Hazleton Area Cougars (5-3), defeated Wilkes-Barre 29-10 (Last week: 4)
Cougars played some of their best defense last week as they limited Wilkes-Barre’s highly explosive offense to one touchdown. Every game matters for seeding and some possible home games in playoffs.
Next up: at Wyoming Valley West (3-5)
  5. Dallas Mountaineers (5-2), defeated Crestwood 41-14 (Last week: 5)
It was an impressive win over a team that had been playing well and more important, the Mounts ran the ball effectively. Next week could secure the No. 2 seed with a win.
Next up: vs. Berwick (5-3) (Listen on NPF)
  6. Berwick Bulldogs (5-3), defeated Pittston Area 34-7 (Last week: NR)
Berwick makes their first appearance in the Super Six with four straight wins. Next week will tell us where they stand in the Class 4A pecking order.
Next up: at Dallas (5-2) (Listen on NPF)

SMALL SCHOOL

  1. Scranton Prep Cavaliers (7-0), defeated Tunkhannock 52-21 (Last week: 1)
Prep kept out London Montgomery again, but it didn’t matter. The Cavaliers showed they aren’t one dimensional with four passing touchdowns to star receiver Robert Rossi. One more win until the big showdown for the league title.
    Next up: vs. Lake-Lehman (3-4)
  2. Wyoming Area Warriors (6-1), Idle (Last week: 2)
The Warriors got a chance to rest up which isn’t a bad thing in Week 8. They are still playing for playoff seeding so every game still important.
Next up: at Dunmore (3-4) (Watch on NPF)
  3. Old Forge Blue Devils (7-0), defeated Holy Cross 55-6 (Last week: 3)
Blue Devils look bored and for good reason. They haven’t been challenged since Week 1.  Probably won’t be until Week 10.
Next up: at Susquehanna (2-6) (Listen on NPF)
  4. Lakeland Chiefs (7-1), defeated Mid Valley 34-14 (Last week: 4)
Another impressive win over a team the Chiefs might see again. The defense was key forcing two big turnovers and limiting the running game of Mid Valley.
    Next up: vs. Riverside (2-6)
  5. Lackawanna Trail Lions (6-1), defeated Dunmore 21-7 (Last week: 5)
Lions beat Dunmore for the second time in the last three seasons, and they will see them again. But they assured it will be back at Tunnel Hill again for a winner take all.
Next up: at Mid Valley (6-2) (Listen on NPF)
  6. Mid Valley Spartans (6-2), lost to Lakeland 34-14 (Last week: 6)
Would have been a statement win last week, but the Spartans still are seeking that this season. They will have another chance again Friday.
Next up: vs. Lackawanna Trail (6-1) (Listen on NPF)
