2021 PREVIEW
The Millionaires had a very successful 2020 season winning the division and appearing in the state playoffs. The goal this year is to repeat as division champion and win some state playoff games. Williamsport has plenty back to accomplish both those goals.
After struggling his sophomore year, Frankie Morrone was outstanding last season throwing for 1,082 yards and 13 touchdowns. Williamsport’s offense was very well-balanced and will be again this year. Nasir Hennigan returns at running back and WVC Division 1 Offense Player of the Year Keith Freeman, Jr. is back as well. Freeman can line up anywhere on the field and be dangerous. Cam Sims and D.J. Greene are also returning at wide receiver for the Millionaires. Caleb Williamson will back up Morrone at QB while LeJear Whaley and Damir Sams-Glover will see time in the backfield. Jamaire Harden, Yazhir Slaughter, and Santino White will provide depth at wide receiver. Avery Campbell fill the void at tight end that was created by graduation.
Four offensive linemen return including all-division performers center Dade Splain and right guard Charles Crews III. Connor Adkins and Joel Feleppa are back at the tackle positions. The newcomer to the unitl right be left guard Austin Best.
Williamsport is even more experienced on defense. Campbell and Crews return as the defensive ends while Splain is back at defensive tackle. Adkins will fill the other inside spot. Riley Bower, Hennigan and Whaley are all experienced at linebacker. And the secondary returns all four starters and is considered one of the best in the WVC with Sams-Glover and Greene at the corners and Freeman and Roman Morrone the starting safeties.
The Millionaires will be breaking in a new kicker and punter this season.
QUOTE FROM COACH CREWS: We hope to build on our success from the 2020 year. Being a year older, wiser, and stronger will hopefully equate to less mistakes and more overall team cohesion. Ww hope to continue to play tough defense that will lead to more scoring opportunities with a shorter field. As always penalties and turnovers will be critical to our success!
