2020 RECORD: 2-8 (1-2 in conference)

STADIUM: Taylor Veterans Memorial Stadium

The Class of 2021 left some holes in the Riverside lineup heading into the new season, but the Vikings are hopeful the talent will mature quickly so they can compete in the division. There are definitely some players who will be impactful so the younger players’ progress will be a key to Riverside’s success.

Noah Parchinski will take over at quarterback. He was one of the best multi-role players in the LFC last season so expect him to be the center of the offense. Freshman Chase Taddonio will see time at running back but also is the backup quarterback. The Vikes will spread things out again and return one of the best young receivers in LFC in Reese Gaughan. Gary Mrozinski,  Matt Alfieri, Casey O’Brien and Dominick Deangelo will also be used in the passing game. Richie Kostoff and Robby Garvey are the new tight ends.

Riverside only has one returning starter on the offensive line in left tackle Paul Higgins. The rest of the line should consist of Jimmy Garvey, Jack Munley, Ed Snee and Kalani Massie. Depth will be provided by Zack Chilek, Chad Hoskins, Evan Williams, Nick Sochovka, and Anthony Norris.

Massie is a returning starter at the defensive end with Chilek, Hoskins, and Sochovka competing for playing time on the other side. Higgins returns at defensive tackle with help from Snee, Williams, Vincent Scotti, and J.J. Rosario. Jimmy Garvey gives the Vikings experience as the returning inside linebacker. Robbie Garvey will start at outside backer and Quinn Pucilowski, Miracle Okoroji, and Tony Pavlovicz will compete for playing time on the other side. Parchinski returns at safety with O’Brien and Taddonio also in consideration for the other safety position. Gaughan returns at cornerback. Shae Lello, Neftali Feliciano, and Alex Pica are trying to get on field as the corner and nickel situations.

Damico will be placekicker and Mrozinski will handle the punting.

QUOTE FROM COACH ARMSTRONG: Gaining experience & developing throughout the season will he a huge key to our success. There is competition for playing time in almost every position. We have alot of young players and athletes who are new to football: every phase needs to improve dramatically from 2020 season, starting with defense and special teams. Overall team speed and versatility will be our strengths. This could be a year where we surprise alot of teams.
