The Bulldogs had a frustrating 2020 season that had them lose their quarterback before the first game and resulted in one win for the year. They are hoping with some off-season workouts and a positive mental attitude that the Dawgs can get back to contender status in the WVC.

Berwick shifted their offensive backfield moving Bryan Knorr from quarterback to running back. Matt Lonczynski will have the QB job full time now. Aiden Mason returns at fullback and Logan Smith will provide running back depth. Brayden Boone is the lone returning wide recei er but Dray Wilk and Rowan Slabinski are expected to help in the passing game. The Bulldogs are happy with both tight ends – Spencer Kishbaugh and Tahsjee Taylor.

Center Bruce Hartman and left guard Andrew Blockus are returning starters on the offensive line and will be the anchors of the unit. The rest of the line will have competition. Being considered for left tackle is Gavyn Cunningham, Landon Rubenstein, Kyle Smith, and Harrison Snyder. Dakota Rubenstein and Liam Carrol will compete for right guard while Zander Unger and Chase Shuckers are in the mix at right tackle.

The defense will have some experience with Taylor back at defensive end while Cunningham and Mason will also be in the rotation. Blockus and Hartman return at defensive tackle. Kishbaugh and Knorr have experience at outside linebacker and will be backed up by Evan Meighan and Rocco Romeo. Tristen English returns at inside linebacker with depth being provided by Alex Hacker and Jim DeAndrea. Boone is the lone returning starter in the secondary at one of the cornerback spot. Slabinski will occupy the other side with Josh Kishbaugh, Nicky Pajovich, and Ryan Bankes all getting some playing time. Dray Wilk and Bo Sheptock will be at safety along with Ethan Lear.

Brendan Hinkle returns as the place kicker while Ben Knorr takes over as the punter. Blockus, Unger and Hartman will be considered for long snapping.

QUOTE FROM COACH DEFRANCESCO: Our coaching staff is very excited about this year’s team chemistry. Our players have committed themselves to establishing a positive culture throughout our program, both on and off the field.
