2020 PREVIEW

Wyoming Area won their first state championship and also the first football title for a District 2 team since 1997. It would be an incredible feat to achieve that accomplishment again, but the Warriors have enough returning players combined with some young skill players to at least make an attempt to go on that journey again.

Jake Williams takes over at quarterback while Colby Gashi is the new fullback. Leo Haros did get some playing time in 2019 and will be the starting tailback. Drew Mruk, Vincenzo Giambra and Jaden Rusyn will be depth in the backfield. Usama Alansari, Rocco Pizano and Adam Sigman will be the new receiving corp while Mike Clark and Blaise Sokach-Minnick will see time at tight end.

The strength of the offense and the reason Wyoming Area will be a contender again is they return four offensive lineman. Bryce Hinkle, Nick Elko, Nasir Condry and Shawn Kostak were starters last season. Ryan Gilpin will be lone newcomer up front.

The defensive line will see more two-way players this season with Rusyn, Elko, Hinkle, Kostak and Sokach-Minnick getting playing time in the trenches. All have some experience from last season. Mruk started as a freshman and Condry, Gashi, Rich Hyzinski, and Arron Crossley will see time at linebacker. Haros and Williams are returning starters in the secondary while Pizano, Alansari and Sigman will compete for roles at defensive back.

Rusyn has experience in the kicking game. Sydney Kruska and Alansari will also be involved. Sokach-Minnick is a Division I long snapper prospect.
