2019 Super Six – Week 7

Here are the rankings after Week 7 presented by Al’s Quick Stop:

BIG SCHOOL

  1. Dallas Mountaineers (7-0), defeated Nanticoke 62-7 (Last Week: 1)
The Mounts have had it easy so far, but the next two weeks will tell whether they deserve the No. 1 ranking. Dallas will have a chance to avenge their only two losses last year this Friday, but will have to do it on the road.
Next up: at Valley View (7-0)
  2. Valley View Cougars (7-0), defeated Western Wayne 35-15 (Last Week: 2)
The Cougars showed poise on the road and never wavered. They also beat their second straight unbeaten team. Valley View will try to do it a third straight week.
    Next up: vs Dallas (7-0)
  3. Delaware Valley Warriors (6-1) defeated Abington Heights 47-0 (Last Week: 3)
Nobody has challenged DV since their Week 1 loss. Coach Keith Olsommer’s biggest challenge will be to keep the team focused.
    Next up: at Williamsport (3-4)
  4. Berwick Bulldogs (6-1) defeated Hazleton Area 40-7 (Last Week: 4)
Bewrwick bounced back easily after their first loss of the season. The Dawgs have back-to-back games coming up against ranked teams. Playoff seeding on the line.
    Next up: at Crestwood (5-2)
  5. Crestwood Comets (5-2) defeated Tunkhannock 42-16 (Last Week: 5)
An impressive win over an upstart Tunkhannock team. This week will tell us where the Comets are as they play Berwick.
    Next up: vs Berwick (6-1)
  6. Scranton Knights (5-2) defeated West Scranton 41-7 (Last Week: 6)
Tyhe Knights take home the bell on Sunday and probably are the surprise team in the LFC
Next up: at Hazleton Area (1-6)

SMALL SCHOOL

  1. Wyoming Area Warriors (7-0), defeated Dunmoe 35-14 (Last Week: 1)
Well, the Warriors dodged a bullet for the second straight week. And now they get what they wanted – one of the best teams in the state. At least there will be a big crowd there.
Next up: vs Southern Columbia (7-0)
  2. Scranton Prep Cavaliers (5-2), defeated Honesdale 49-14 (Last Week: 3)
Prep is playing their best football of the season, and a showdown later in the season against Western Wayne could put the Cavs in the driver’s seat for a bye week in the playoffs.
Next up: vs Pittston Area (3-4)
  3. Western Wayne Wildcats (6-1), lost to Valley View 35-15 (Last Week: 2)
The ‘Cats held their own against one of the best teams in the state. But still have work to do to get to that level.
Next up: at West Scranton (1-6)
  4. Lake-Lehman Black Knights (5-2), defeated Holy Redeemer  41-6 (Last Week: 4)
Lehman bounced back after a tough loss and now the Knights will try to position themselves for a playoff home game.
Next up: at Mid Valley (2-4)
  5. Dunmore Bucks (4-3), lost to Wyoming Area 35-14 (Last Week: 5)
For the second time this season, the Bucks were poised to pull an upset, but the a kickoff return for a touchdown derailed them again.
    Next up: at Susquehanna (1-5)
  6. Old Forge Blue Devils (5-1), defeated Lackawanna Trail 26-7 (Last Week: 6)
The Blue Devils bounced back this week as well and they did it without quarterback Dante Lucarelli. It was gut check time for Old Forge and they passed.  Now, it’s rivalry time.
    Next up: at Riverside (4-3)
