2019 Super Six – Week 6

Here are the rankings after Week 6 presented by Al’s Quick Stop:

BIG SCHOOL

  1. Dallas Mountaineers (6-0), defeated Wilkes-Barre 35-7 (Last Week: 1)
Everything is building up to Week 8 and Week 9 as the Mounts still really haven’t been challenged. The Class 4A title chase will be a major clash of excellent football teams.
    Next up: vs Nanticoke (1-5)
  2. Valley View Cougars (6-0), defeated Berwick 35-28 (Last Week: 2)
Old School. Both sides of the Valley View and Berwick contingents used that word to describe Friday’s epic clash between two historic programs. The comeback by the Cougars against that defense is what championship teams are made of.
Next up: at Western Wayne (6-0)
  3. Delaware Valley Warriors (5-1) defeated Hazleton Area 41-7 (Last Week: 3)
DV took at little bit to get going, but once again they were dominant overall and are playing great football.
Next up: vs Abington Heights (1-5)
  4. Berwick Bulldogs (5-1) lost to Valley View 35-28 (Last Week: 4)
The Dawgs offensive showing against the Cougars was encouraging and this has to be a confidence booster heading into the playoffs. Berwick knows they can play with the defending champs which gives them a fighting chance in the postseason.
Next up: vs Hazleton Area (1-5)
  5. Crestwood Comets (4-2) defeated Nanticoke 44-7 (Last Week: 6)
Usually the Comets are playing close games, but they were able to take care of business this past Friday. Now, they will battle another WVC surprise team that has also played in a lot of close games.
    Next up: vs Tunkhannock (4-2)
  6. Scranton Knights (4-2) defeated Williamsport 27-8 (Last Week: NR)
Scranton has been in every game and now they are seeing wins pile up. They are also getting healthy just in time for The Bell Game. This game is usually a classic no matter the records.
Next up: vs West Scranton (1-5)

SMALL SCHOOL

  1. Wyoming Area Warriors (6-0), defeated Lake-Lehman 35-30 (Last Week: 1)
It was the first close call for the Warriors but good teams find ways to win. The schedule continues to be tough so let’s see how they fare over the next two weeks.
    Next up: at Dunmore (4-2)
  2. Western Wayne Wildcats (6-0), defeated Lakeland 28-7 (Last Week: 3)
The next game is probably the biggest game in program history. The Cats gave Valley View their toughest game in 2018 and are poised to pull the upset at home this season
Next up: vs Valley View (6-0)
  3. Scranton Prep Cavaliers (4-2), defeated North Pocono 42-7 (Last Week: 4)
The Cavaliers offense is being sparked by freshman London Montgomery. For those who dismissed the Cavaliers after the loss to Wyoming Area might want to rethink that position.
    Next up: vs Honesdale (0-6)
  4. Lake-Lehman Black Knights (4-2), lost to Wyoming Area 35-30(Last Week: 5)
The Black Knights wish they could get that one back, but the fact they took the No. 1 team to the brink shows they will be a factor in the Class 3A playoffs and are capable of competing with the best teams in the conference.
Next up: at Holy Redeemer (0-5)
  5. Dunmore Bucks (4-2), defeated Old Forge 13-12 (Last Week: NR)
When the Bucks started 0-2, people were wondering what’s going on, but after defeating the No. 1 Class 1A team in the state, the Bucks have to be the favorite again in the district.
Next up: vs Wyoming Area (6-0)
  6. Old Forge Blue Devils (4-1), lost to Dunmore 13-12 (Last Week: 2)
The Blue Devils might have been hurt by a weak first half schedule and now they have to forget last week to play the defending district champion in a game that could really turn the classification upside down.
Next up: vs Lackawanna Trail (4-2)
