2019 Super Six – Week 11
Here are the rankings after Week 11:
- Dallas Mountaineers (11-0), defeated Abington Heights 56-14 (Last Week: 1)
No issues for the Mountaineers as they rolled to the semifinals again. The running game continues to churn with both Lenny Kelley and Danny Meuser. Rematch from Week 2 coming up on Friday when Dallas won 42-0.
Next up: vs Crestwood (7-4)
- Delaware Valley Warriors (10-1) defeated Williamsport 48-6 (Last Week: 2)
A ten-game winning streak where the Warriors haven’t really been challenged. The scoreless streak for the defense ended last Friday, but DV’s defense is still the best in District 2.
Next up: vs Wilkes-Barre (7-4)
- Valley View Cougars (10-1), defeated Pittston Area 48-0 (Last Week: 3)
A third straight 10-win season for the Cougars. The bigger question is can they make three straight district titles? They get a rematch with Berwick where they hadto come back last time for a 35-28 win.
Next up: vs Berwick (9-2)
- Berwick Bulldogs (9-2) defeated Tunkhannock 22-9 (Last Week: 4)
Berwick struggled with Tunkhannock committing seven turnovers and sneaking into the semifinals. They have another chance to get rid of the Valley View-Dallas struggles. Only losses for the Bulldogs over the past two seasons have come to those two teams.
Next up: at Valley View (10-1)
- Crestwood Comets (7-4) defeated North Pocono 34-0 (Last Week: 5)
It was an impressive win for the Comets in the quarterfinals, and they are much better than they were Week 2 when they lost to Dallas. But they will be a huge underdog in Week 12.
Next up: at Dallas (11-0)
- Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack (7-4) defeated Scranton 41-12 (Last Week: 6)
In their first season, the Wolfpack have had a winning season, won a playoff game and now they will play for a District 2 title. They get Delaware Valley who they lost 54-20 back in Week 4. Wilkes-Barre’s defense will be the key to any type of upset.
Next up: at Delaware Valley (10-1)
- Wyoming Area Warriors (9-1), Off (Last Week: 1)
Wyoming Area gets to see rival Lake-Lehman again and a chance to avenge last year’s semifinal loss with a chance to win the district title. The Warriors are still the favorite, but this bracket is the best in District 2. Wyoming Area won the first meeting with the Knights this year 35-30
Next up: vs Lake-Lehman (8-3)
- Scranton Prep Cavaliers (8-2), Off (Last Week: 2)
Cavaliers will get a rematch with Western Wayne who they beat 21-10 two weeks ago. Prep is defending it’s 3A crown and has won four straight district titles. They would love to see Wyoming Area again to try to avenge a blowout loss earlier this season.
Next up: vs Western Wayne (9-2)
- Western Wayne Wildcats (9-2), defeated Hanover Area 35-0 (Last Week: 3)
The Wildcats took care of business in the quarterfinals and now have to find a way to beat Scranton Prep. They had them at home two weeks ago, but the offense was quiet, even with Zane Janiszewski going over the 100-yard rushing mark again. Others will have to step up their game for a chance at the title.
Next up: at Scranton Prep (8-2)
- Lake-Lehman Black Knights (8-3), defeated Lakeland 43-12 (Last Week: 4)
The Black Knights felt they should have won the first meeting with Wyoming Area and they probably were right. Lehman had the lead only to see the Warriors rally. It will be interesting to see if anyone changes their gameplan because they both had success that night. The defenses will probably be the units to decided it.
Next up: at Wyoming Area (9-1)
- Dunmore Bucks (7-4), defeated Susquehanna 48-20 (Last Week: 6)
A chance to win another district title and to avenge the Week 2 loss to Mid Valley that saw the Bucks lose 30-17. Dunmore has righted the ship while the Spartans are finally healthy again. It should be a very competitive game.
Next up: vs Mid Valley (4-6)
- Lackawanna Trail Lions (7-3), defeated Old Forge 22-19 (Last Week: NR)
The Lions are in the Super Six for the first time since the preseason as they defeated Old Forge for the second straight season in the District 2 Class 1A title game. They head to Subregional Final and are on the road to Hershey once again.
Next up: vs Morrisville (5-6)
